HDB resale prices have increased

HDB also said that resale prices are on the rise for the fifth consecutive quarter.

OrangeTee’s Senior Associate District Director Ryan Tan told CNA that the stay home measures over the past year increased home buyers’ desire for bigger living spaces, and the enhanced CPF housing grants from 2019 have made resale flats more attractive.

According to HDB’s public housing data, the resale price index increased by 3.0 per cent since the first quarter of 2021 while the number of resale flats bought fell by 6.8 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2021.

As compared to the second quarter of 2020, resale transactions in the second quarter of 2021 were 106.2 per cent higher due to the circuit breaker measures implemented from April 7 to June 1, 2020.
