BREAKING: Florida To End All COVID-19 Restrictions; DeSantis Signs

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has set an incredibly positive precedent for the health freedom movement in the US, and the world at large, by using his executive powers to terminate all local COVID-19 orders, effective immediately, and by signing a bill which will significantly limit the governments’ ability to shut down schools, and businesses.

From a news conference held at a restaurant in St. Petersburg, FL, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced he has signed an executive order that suspends all local coronavirus mandates right away, and will also invalidate all remaining local emergency COVID-19 orders effective July 1.

Furthermore, DeSantis also stated he will be signing a bill which protects both schools and businesses from being shut down without proper evidence nor justification, and which he described as follows:

“The bill ensures that neither the state or local governments can close businesses or keep kids out of in-personal instruction unless they satisfy a demanding and continuous justification.”

Furthermore, Desantis explained his actions were motivated by the fact that since a vaccine now exists, and if those promoting it truly believe in its efficacy, emergency draconian measures (“policing the people”) are no longer justified:

“I think folks that are saying they need to be policing people at this point — if you’re saying that, you really are saying you don’t believe in the vaccines,” he said. “You don’t believe in the data, you don’t believe in the science. We’ve embraced the vaccines. We’ve embraced the science on it.”

In DeSantis’ press conference, he was critical of other states’ handling of the pandemic response, e.g. citing the ban on dancing at weddings in Washington, D.C., as well as strict regulations imposed in certain cities in Florida.

According to a report from Local10.com:

“DeSantis said COVID-19-related fines will be remitted for individuals and businesses, and said the new law will not only affect local governments but will also allow the Florida Legislature to overturn a governor’s executive order if it is deemed to infringe on an individual’s rights and liberties.”

Clearly, DeSantis’ actions are in full alignment with the beliefs and experiences of millions of Floridians, and many more in the US and the world, who believe that governments’ response to the coronavirus outbreak have been profoundly disproportionate to the actual threat that has justified them, and that it is time to roll back these measures, and empower citizens, once again, to go about their socio-economic activities, which are essential to the health and well-being of everyone moving forward.
