Food licenses for 3 KTVs permanently revoked, 18 F&B premises ordered to close – Mothership.SG – News from Singapore, Asia and around the world

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has permanently revoked the license of three former nightlife establishments that pivoted to food and beverage (F&B) operations for breaching safe management measures (SMM).

They must cease operations with immediate effect.

In addition, 18 F&B outlets were ordered to close, while another four premises and 87 individuals were fined for SMM breaches.

Revocation of food licenses for 3 ex-nightlife establishments

According to a press release by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), the three F&B outlets that had their licenses permanently revoked are The Charm, Icon II (also known as Club IICON) and Frederico’s Paddles Too Pub & Cafeteria.

All three were formerly operating as nightlife establishments before pivoting to F&B.

Located at Fook Hai Building, The Charm was found to have failed in minimising physical interaction between customers, visitors and staff.

It also allowed hostessing and provided entertainment, such as card and dice games, to customers on July 13.

SFA has revoked the operator’s F&B licence, and issued an order requiring the operator to cease operations with immediate effect from July 18.

Icon II, located at 35 Selegie Road, was also found to have failed to minimise physical interaction between customers, visitors and staff, and allowed hostessing on July 13.

Frederico’s Paddles Too Pub & Cafeteria, at 11 East Coast Road, was found to be operating on July 17, during the mandatory two-week suspension for KTVs that first began on July 16.

SFA has revoked the operator’s F&B licence, and issued an order requiring the operator to cease operations with immediate effect from July 22.

2. Bollywood Beats (79 Circular Road), for 10 days from July 16 to 25 (both dates inclusive) for failing to ensure customers

within the premises adhered to the permitted group size on July 9.

8. Ohms Garden (672 Chander Road, #01-38 Gholia Village), for 20 days from July 19 to Aug. 7, for allowing gatherings that exceeded the permitted group size, as well as allowing dancing and singing by customers on its premises on July 18.

9. Millionaire Club (Orchard Towers #01-05/02-08/02-09), for 10 days from July 14 to 23 (both dates inclusive), for failing to minimise physical interaction between staff and customers, allowing gatherings that exceeded the permitted group size, and providing dice games to customers on July 13.

KFC (Far East Plaza #01-06), for 20 days from July 11 to 30 (both dates inclusive), for failing to take the temperature of individuals entering the premises, and not ensuring that the individuals checked in using TraceTogether. It also failed to ensure customers consuming food and drink on the premises adhered to the permitted group size.

11. East Ocean Teochew Restaurant (Ngee Ann City, #05-08/09), for 10 days from July 21 to 30, for breached SMMs on July 1, by allowing gatherings that exceeded the permitted group size and splitting them across different tables.

12. Kopitiam (1 Sengkang Square, #04-11, Compass One), for 10 days from July 21 to 30, for failing to ensure safe distancing of at least 1m between groups of customers on multiple occasions.

13. Kopitiam (4 Tampines Central 5, #04-27/28/29 Tampines Mall), for 10 days from July 21 to 30, for failing to ensure safe distancing of at least 1m between groups of customers on multiple occasions.

16. Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles (63 Jurong West Central 3 #03-105/106/107/108/109/110/111/112, Jurong Point Shopping Centre), for 10 days from July 21 to 30, for failing to ensure customers consuming food and drink on the premises adhered to the permitted group size.

17. Teck Seng Restaurant Pte Ltd (511 Geylang Road), for 10 days from July 21 to 30, for failing to ensure a 1m safe distance between customers.

18. BBQ People Pte Ltd (513 Geylang Road), from July 21 to 31 (both dates inclusive), for failing to ensure customers within the premises adhered to the permitted group size and allowing them to intermingle.

Four outlets and 87 individuals fined for SMM breaches

Four premises were also fined between S$1,000 to S$2,000 each for breaching SMMs, such as failure to ensure at least 1m safe distancing between seated customers.

They are:

Eight individuals were fined S$300 each for gathering in groups larger than the permitted group size while dining at various F&B outlets, while 79 individuals were fined for breaching SMMs from July 17 to 20 2021 in parks and beaches managed by the National Parks Board (NParks).

These breaches included included not wearing masks when not engaging in strenuous exercises, and gathering in groups larger than the permitted limit.
