Justin Bieber has opened up about feeling âaloneâ and empty while staying at a castle in Ireland during his world tour.
The 27-year-old stayed in Ireland back in November 2016 and June 2017 during his Purpose world tour, where he performed in the 3 Arena and then the RDS Arena respectively.
After playing 150 concerts across 40 countries, Bieber decided to cancel his remaining 14 dates due to depression and exhaustion.
The pop star spoke about this low point in his life in an interview with GQ Magazine, where he explained that he realised that he was âsad insideâ while staying in an Irish castle, just before he pulled the rest of the world tour.
The Canadian said: âThis old castle. Just like the most beautiful estate. With the trimmed hedges that are completely immaculate.â
âItâs over this beautiful body of water. And I was there. And I was alone. And I was sad inside.â
Bieber explained that he felt like he had hit rock bottom five years ago, saying: âI just lost control of my vision for my career. Thereâs all these opinions. And in this industry, youâve got people that unfortunately prey on peopleâs insecurities and use that to their benefit.
âAnd so when that happens, obviously that makes you angry. And then youâre this young angry person who had these big dreams, and then the world just jades you and makes you into this person that you donât want to be.
âAnd then you wake up one day and your relationships are f–ked up and youâre unhappy and you have all this success in the world, but youâre just like: Well, what is this worth if Iâm still feeling empty inside?
âIt was like I had all this success and it was still like: Iâm still sad, and Iâm still in pain. And I still have these unresolved issues. And I thought all the success was going to make everything good,â he continued.
