Matt Damon’s daughter wants to move to Ireland, after he was here for Lockdown – Buzz.ie

Hollywood star Matt Damon has revealed that his daughter wants to live in Ireland, after spending six months here at the start of the lockdown.

The Bourne Identity star (50) was adopted by the nation after he got stuck in the stunning seaside town of Dalkey in south Dublin in March 2020.

He had moved here with his family while filming Ridley Scott’s film “The Last Duel” and was forced to stay for half of the year.

A famous photo of him carrying a Supervalu bag when he went for a dip at the Forty-Foot made him an instant hero.

The star has gushed about Ireland ever since, and in an interview with FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock said even his daughter wants to live here.

“You’re in one of my favourite places in the world, you guys gave me a better lockdown, believe me, we felt so lucky to be there, my kids had the best time, like even with everything closed they had the most amazing time,” he said.

“I did a thing for the Dalkey book festival, and my daughter out of the blue, blurted out, just the other day she was like dad, I could live there, I could live in Ireland, and I said that’s cool when your kid has such a good experience somewhere.”

Damon is currently in Byrne Bay in Australia where his is filming “Thor: Love and Thunder”.

Since he left here last year, he has repeatedly told the world’s media how much he loves Ireland and how he felt so connected to the locals who made the family feel so welcome.

He said he was surprised at the attention he got carrying a Supervalu bag saying, “It wasn’t even a paparazzi shot or anything, because there weren’t any of those.”

His new film, Stillwater, tells the story of an American oil-rig roughneck who travels to Marseille, France, to visit his estranged daughter in prison for a murder she claims she didn’t commit.

Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, he soon builds a new life for himself as he makes it his personal mission to exonerate her.

Stillwater is out next Friday, August 6.
