A healthy and happy mum of four children has been left paralysed after a long and harrowing battle with coronavirus.

Following a brutal Covid-19 experience over the last three months, Ayesha Hussain, from Cambridge, has been left paralysed from the eyes down and medical staff doubt she will ever move, talk or breath on her own again.

Her family have been left with an unthinkable dilemma just days ahead her 56th birthday after doctors asked if they wanted to let her pass away or keep her alive, Cambridge News reported.

Ayesha’s daughter Mina has vowed never to end her mother’s life and hopes one day to be able to bring her home.

Mina said: “We just want our mum back. Doctors say she’s going to be disabled but we don’t care what state she’s in.”

Ayesha Hussain has been left paralysed from eyes down and unable to control her movement or breathing.

Ayesha’s Covid nightmare began at Christmas, when she developed a cough and had trouble breathing. On December 29 she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

Two days later, she was put on a ventilator and a week after that her temperature soared to 42C before she fell into a coma, which she remains in today, only able to move her eyes.

To make matters even worse, while she was in hospital thieves broke into her home, taking her car and jewellery – though most of it was eventually recovered.

Doctors were left confused by Ayesha’s coma state, and consulted a neurologist, who found that Covid-19 had affected her brain stem, making it impossible to move, talk or listen.

Days after that diagnosis, Ayesha’s heart stopped, and medics had to scramble to save her life.

Now in her fourth month in hospital, doctors have issued a terrifying ultimatum to her family.

“The doctors said you need to consider the possibility of ending her life,” Mina said.

“They asked if she has a cardiac arrest again do you want us to resuscitate her and we said yes.

“They were saying the quality of life wouldn’t be good but we can give a good quality for her.”

Mina added: “I wish people could see what this has done to my mum.”

“She was completely happy and healthy and it’s destroyed her life. It’s taken her for a complete 360.”

Despite what the doctors say, Mina hopes to one day bring her mum back home, and has started fundraising to pay Ayesha’s bills and rent.

So far she has raised more than £7,000 on GoFundMe, and said the money will also be used to support her mum if she is able to leave hospital.
