Temperatures to hit 18C this weekend with Ireland set to bask in sunshine and clear skies – Buzz.ie

Ireland is set to bask in glorious sunshine this weekend, with Met Eireann predicting temperatures will hit a balmy 18C on Saturday.

The national forecaster has said that high pressure will dominate the weather pattern through the weekend bringing dry and settled conditions.

But you will want to make the most of the good weather, with current indications suggesting the high pressure will weaken on Monday night with a cooler but mostly dry northerly airflow setting in.

If you plan to head out and soak up the sun, here is what you need to know about this weekend’s weather forecast.

Clear Skies

Dry and mostly sunny today, the sunshine will be hazy at times. Some patchy low cloud may develop for a time during the afternoon. Feeling pleasant with highs of 13 to 17 degrees, cooler near southern and eastern coasts with highs of just 11 or 12 degrees owing to a moderate onshore southeasterly breeze. Winds will increase fresh at times in the southwest.

Dry tonight. Mostly clear skies early in the night with high cloud increasing later. Lowest temperatures of 0 to + 5 degrees in a mostly light and variable breeze, with a touch of frost possible. Holding slightly milder in the southwest where southeast winds will continue light to moderate.

Friday will be another dry bright day, however there will be more high cloud about with hazy sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, mildest in the west, and again a little cooler near eastern and southern coasts where a moderate east to southeast breeze will persist.

Remaining dry, however a little more cloud about keeping lowest temperatures a little higher than previous night at 4 to 7 degrees in mostly light to moderate easterly breezes.

Dry with good sunshine for most however it may be a little hazy at times in Leinster. Highest temperatures of 12 to 18 degrees coolest near southern and eastern coasts in mostly moderate easterly breezes, becoming fresh along southern coasts.

Saturday night

Dry and mostly clear on Saturday night. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees, holding a degree or two warmer near coasts in light to moderate easterly breezes.


Mostly sunny, becoming hazy at times with just some intermittent passing cloud. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees generally, moderate easterly breezes will hold highs at 10 to 13 degrees in eastern and southern coastal counties, pushing into parts of the midland also.

Sunday night

Remaining dry and mostly clear. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees generally in light to moderate easterly or variable breezes.


Good sunny spells however cloud will increase over Ulster during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 11 to 17 degrees coolest near coasts in light northeast of variable breezes.
