A woman was caught on video verbally and physically abusing staff working at the Toast Box outlet in Chinatown Point by talking down to them, as well as throwing eggs and a tray while at the counter.
A video of the incident was put up on Facebook on March 31.
What video showed
The middle-aged woman was initially seen pointing her finger at the staff working behind the counter.
The customer had her phone held up in front of her, as if she was recording the exchange.
A staff could be heard telling the woman not to spit while speaking.
The customer then asked for her eggs to be cracked open for her, prompting the staff to put a teaspoon on the plate.
The woman responded by throwing the eggs, plates, and tray at the staff.
She could be heard shouting for her eggs to be cracked open.
An employee could be heard saying in response that there were customers around to witness the woman’s actions and that she would call the police.
The customer proceeded to toss another tray at the staff while demanding for her eggs to be cracked open.
Used spoon to examine cracked eggs
After the woman was finally served the eggs that were cracked open for her, she used a teaspoon to tap at them to scrutinise the food and asked if they were cooked.
It is understood that Toast Box does not crack eggs open for customers who are dining in.
Reactions to the video unanimously slammed the woman for her unruly behaviour that was uncalled for.
Commenters said the woman might be a customer, but she was clearly not right in her actions.
Many commenters also highlighted that a grown woman could have easily cracked open her own eggs, and that respect goes both ways.
Some commenters also praised the Toast Box staff for carrying on with their service, despite them being ill-treated.
The location of the Toast Box outlet was also identified by commentrs as the one in Chinatown Point.
As seen in the video, the 7-Eleven outlet in Chinatown Point is located across from the Toast Box outlet.
